Culloden '98

the following pictures were taken at the re-enactment of Culloden held just outside of London, Ontario, Canada on May 16, 17 th 1998 at the Longwoods Road Conservation Area. They are some of the first that I've received and there should be more added to these pages in the coming weeks. The two battles re-enacted were "The battle of Prestonpans Sept 1745" and "The battle of Culloden Moor April 1746"

A special thanks to our new friend from Ohio - John MacGregor Evans - for sending these pictures to me.

from left to right "the MacGregors" - Tom Caryl, John MacGregor Evans, Ian MacKenzie, Duncan Dhu MacGregor, Hank Griffith, John (Iain) Killgore. Duncan Dhu was a new addition to the Historic Highlanders, and fought bravely, hopefully he will make it to other events during the year. Hank was the Cheiftain of the Clan MacGregor for this event.

Seems that the MacGregors managed to steal, from under their very noses, the flag flying over the British commanders tent. It was of course, requested that "whomever" stole the flag return it before the battle of Culloden started. Guess the bloody Sassenaches needed a flag . We did return the flag on Sunday morning, but as a present to "Bonnie Prince Charlie" as a new bath mat. More pictures should be available and posted here, including the presenting of the "bath mat" to Bonnie Prince Charlie.
